Today in Science, Mr. Sehr's 5th graders practiced the engineering process while making a free standing note card tower!
Students learned how to navigate through various criteria and constraints, including a 30 minute time limit, to construct the tallest tower as possible! #STEM #ScienceRules #5thGrade
Book clubs have started in Mrs. Wheatley's 7th Grade ELA classes! They have chosen books, assigned jobs, and in one week are 1/4 of the way through their novels. We will end the year creating roller coasters based on the novels highs, lows, twists and turns.

Mrs. Carter's Art Club went on their field trip to Laumeier Sculpture Park and the City Museum today. They had so much fun looking at all the sculptures in the park and climbing and sliding on the artwork at the City Museum!

Mrs. Rank's 3rd Graders went on a scavenger hunt last week to find objects with right angles and objects that are less/greater than right angles. They discovered many types of angles throughout their classroom!
This week in STEM...1st grade experimented with ramps & cars, 4th grade made skeletons from recyclables, 5th grade made seaside villages & 7th grade created rollercoasters with marbles & pipe insulation.
The Smithton School Student of the Month for April 2024 is Madi Spinner. Madi was chosen for this award by the faculty and administration of the school. The award was presented to Madi for displaying a good work ethic, outstanding character, and good behavior. Madi also shows respect, leadership, willingness to help her peers, and kindness to others. Madi will receive a plaque and a gift card from the school. Madi is the daughter of Scott and Crystal Spinner. Madi enjoys playing volleyball, basketball and traveling. Madi would like to play college basketball and become a teacher someday. Her favorite quote by Michael Jordan is "You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them."
