Smithton Elementary School is always seeking substitutes. The hours vary from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, as needed. Contact Staci Nicks with any questions or for more information at (618) 233-6863, ext. 114.
Interested individuals should must possess an Illinois Substitute License or Illinois Professional Educator License. For more information on obtaining a substitute license, please visit ISBE's Substitute License Requirements.
You should also begin the process of having your name added to the Master Sub List with the Regional Office of Education 50 (ROE 50). Once approved and you accept your first substitute day, please pick up a Teacher Substitute packet from our District Office.

As of October 22, 2024, our board approved a pay increase for our substitutes. Our current substitute teacher rate is $130 per day and if you are a retired teacher, your rate is $140 per day.
Interested individuals must possess an Illinois Paraprofessional License (or a Professional Educator License). For more information on acquiring a paraprofessional license, please visit ISBE's Paraprofessional Educator License Requirements. Once a license is obtained, you will need to complete a Substitute packet from the District Office.
Our current paraprofessional sub rate is $115.00 per day.

Smithton, Illinois is a Metro East suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. Smithton is located across the Mississippi River in St. Clair County Illinois approximately 30 minutes from downtown St. Louis, 1.5 hours from Springfield, Illinois and 4.5 hours from Chicago.
The Smithton Community Consolidated School District #130 serves approximately 550 Pre-K through 8th Grade students in a town of 4,000 residents.
