6th grade finished their unit on Ancient China last week and celebrated Chinese New Year on Monday with tea and fortune cookies and a chopstick competition.








4th Grade Teacher Sasha Courtney was nominated for the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) 2024 Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Awards. She was honored with the Award of Meritorious Service.
Educators presented with the Award of Meritorious Service have shaped their school community for the better. These educators frequently employ their talents and passions, but also strive to be of service in unfamiliar domains. They have taken on leadership opportunities and their accomplishments are known and valued by multiple populations: colleagues, students, parents, and school leaders.

Ed Cockrell, a former paralympic competitor, came to speak to Mrs. Runyon's 6th grade classes as they begin their study of Ancient Greece. He shows his memorabilia and a DVD of competition in Athens, Greece where he earned a Silver medal.

Mrs. Carter's 2nd Grade art students finished their paper mache mask-making project this week! They did an amazing job creating animal faces!



Friday was 1st Grader Beckett's last day of chemo! 1st Grade celebrated with donuts and a Fire Truck! Students & Staff were encouraged to wear red (Beckett's favorite color) or their "Beckett's Battalion" shirts to show their support! Congratulations Beckett!

Last week in STEM...6th Grade made model seismographs, 3rd Grade stacked cups and 1st and 4th grades made hexbug mazes.







Last week Mrs. Liszewski's 5th grade class prepped for the Super Bowl by using their inferencing skills to find out who stole the jinxed jersey. They also added and subtracted fractions in order to uncover who she was cheering for at this years Super Bowl. While completing these tasks, they also learned fun facts about the Super Bowl. There was even a halftime show!

Mrs. Carter and the Art Club hosted their Snacks and Splatters fundraising event last week for grades K-2. The students had so much fun painting and eating snacks with friends. Thank you to everyone who participated!
